Jun 24, 2022 1:16 PM

The New York Yankees and Aaron Judge have agreed to a one-year, $19 million contract, according to sources.

The agreement avoided an arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday.

Judge can make an additional $250,000 for MVP and $250,000 for World Series MVP as part of the deal.

Before Opening Day, Judge declined a $213.5 million contract offer from the Yankees that would have locked him up for several years. As things currently stand, Judge will become a free agent after this season.

Astros, Yordan Alvarez Finalize Six-Year, $115M Deal

Jun 7, 2022 7:42 AM

The Houston Astros have finalized Yordan Alvarez's new six-year, $115 million contract.

"A cornerstone player," general manager James Click said of the outfielder. "It allows us to build the roster around him, build a lineup around him. And that sort of security, both for him and for us as we continue to try to compete for World Series championships is huge, knowing that we're going to have a player of that caliber anchoring our lineup for the foreseeable future."

The contract covers 2023 through 2028. The 24-year-old has a one-year deal for 2022 calling for $764,600 while in the major leagues and $304,500 should he be assigned to the minors.

"There's a lot of hard work that's gone into it and seeing the fruits of the labor really means a lot," Alvarez said in Spanish through an interpreter.
